(NewYork.CityRegions.Com, August 31, 2012 ) Orchard Park, NY -- The Buffalo Bills is back on the Ralph Wilson Stadium football field for the 2012 season of the NFL. Known as The Ralph, the famed stadium is leased as the home of the Buffalo Bills for the final year this season, unless the lease is renewed.
The Buffalo Bills is currently playing in their 43rd season in the league under head coach Chan Gailey. The team is hoping to make the playoffs this season. If they do manage to get to the playoffs, it will be their first time since 1999 and will break the team’s playoff drought, which is recorded as the NFL’s longest at 12 seasons.
There is no final decision yet as to whether the Bills will be back at the Ralph Wilson Stadium next season. According to earlier reports, the Bills, as well as the league itself, are demanding extensive and significant renovations to be made to the stadium prior to the renewal of the lease. In a report by The Buffalo News, the said renovations could go up to a total of 200 million dollars in cost.
But the Ralph Wilson Stadium bosses still has an entire season to think things through as the Bills continue playing at the 73,079-seat stadium. If the Bills do not renew the lease agreement, the Stadium will be depending only on its concerts and minor sporting events.
The Bills, who are back on the field this season, also went through internal team renovations during the offseason. The Buffalo Bills acquired Tarvaris Jackson from the Seahawks and he is providing significant backup to quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick. But with this acquisition came a rather surprising move from the Bills’ bosses as they let Vince Young go. With teams required to cut their members down to 75 players by late August, the Buffalo Bills made several drastic cuts, which included Young, the 2006 Offensive Rookie of the Year.
Bills general manager Buddy Nix commented: “Vince, I don’t want to get into what he can do and can’t do. It just didn’t work out. We just need to move on and give this guy (Jackson) a try.”
Young has had a tough few years after he was cut from the Tennessee Titans for inconsistent play performance as well as certain off-the-field incidents. He also played disappointingly with Philadelphia last season, and seems to have failed to impress the Buffalo bosses during the exhibition season.
Whether the Bills made the right decision, fans can only wait and see as the season further unfolds. Ralph Wilson Stadium tickets for all remaining Buffalo Bills home games in the season as well as their visiting games are now available at ACheapSeat.com.
