(NewYork.CityRegions.Com, August 30, 2012 ) New York, NY -- The New York Knicks are set to face new challenges as they enter the 2012-2013 season of the NBA. The Knicks will be back on the field on the 11th of October for their first preseason game against the Washington Wizards, which they will play without home court advantage. This will be followed by a game against the Boston Celtics on October 13 and against the Toronto Raptors on the 19th. Their last preseason game will pit them for the second time against the Celtics in their first home game, which will be held at the Times Union Center, formerly Pepsi Arena, in Albany, New York.
The regular season games for the Knicks will begin on the 1st of November against the Brooklyn Nets. It will be held at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, giving the Nets advantage over the Knicks. On November 2, fans will be able to see how the Knicks will fare against defending champions Miami Heat at the Madison Square Garden in New York. Although Miami Heat and the Knicks won’t play a lot of head to head matchups given that they belong to different divisions in the league, it is undeniable that the Heat has made life a bit difficult for the Knicks, who lost their hopes last season courtesy of the defending champions. This season, experts expect the Heat to continue causing the Knicks a lot of trouble.
For the rest of November until April of next year, the Knicks will have a continuous string of games. Their last regular season game will be against the Atlanta Hawks on April 17, 2013, just prior to the start of the playoffs.
This season, the Knicks will be led by Carmelo Anthony, who is headed into his first full season. Thus, expectations for Anthony are quite high. Experts think, however, that unless Anthony and his team find a way to beat the Heat, they will find it hard to penetrate the winning positions this season.
Within its own division, the Knicks will go head to head lots of times with several powerful teams, which will likely be a daunting task for Anthony and company.
On a positive note, Anthony will have Amar’e Stoudemire beside him this season, and they are expected to be quite a force for the Knicks for the 2012-2013 season of the NBA. They will also be supported by three pass-first point guards and a whole lot of great defense players. The Knicks roster is looking pretty impressive at this point, and fans of the Knicks are understandably getting excited for the coming season.
