(NewYork.CityRegions.Com, August 27, 2012 ) Albany, NY -- The New York Rangers is ready for yet another season of the NHL. The professional ice hockey club hailing from New York’s Manhattan borough has a full season ahead of them.
The 2012-2013 NHL season is scheduled to begin on the 11th of October and will run until
The Rangers, however, are set to play their first preseason game on the 26th of September against the New Jersey Devils. The game will be held at the Times Union Center, formerly known as Pepsi Arena, in Albany, New York. They will then have a repeat preseason game on the 28th, this time at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey. The Rangers will then have four other preseason games running from September 29 to October 8. The games will pit them against the Philadelphia Flyers, New York Islanders, Colorado Avalanche, and the Los Angeles Kings.
The regular season games of the Rangers will begin on the 12th of October, just one day after the official opening of the 2012-2013 NHL season. The October 12 game will see them take on the Los Angeles Kings at the Staples Center in Los Angeles. This will be followed by a complete series of games leading up to the end of the season on the 13th of April next year.
Throughout the entire season, the Rangers will visit several states including Florida, Philadelphia, California, North Carolina, Washington DC, Massachusetts, Illinois, Texas, Colorado, and many others. During the first couple of months of the season, the team will have few home games, which they play at the Madison Square Garden in New York. The said venue is still undergoing renovations at the moment but is expected to be completed before the 2012-2013 sports seasons begin.
All in all, the Rangers will play 24 games against other teams in their division, 40 games against non-division teams in its conference, and 18 non-conference games.
In the games, the Rangers will depend on its usual heroes as well as on a few new additions, such as Rick Nash, who the team has acquired from the Blue Jackets. Nash’s presence in the team can help make up for the absence of Marian Gaborik, who is still recovering from a torn labrum in his shoulder. Gaborik underwent surgery and is still in rehab, but has said that he is ‘happy with the progress’ of his recovery so far. His injury occurred in the opening round of last season’s playoffs when the Rangers played against the Senators. It is expected to keep him out of the Rangers games during the early part of the 2012-2013 season.
Once Gaborik makes it back to the field, he and Nash together with Brad Richards will give the opposition ‘more guys to watch’. This can lead to an interesting turn of events for the upcoming season.
