(NewYork.CityRegions.Com, August 24, 2012 ) New York, NY -- New York City’s Madison Square Garden was recently given a major renovation. As of the second week of August, the renovations are almost complete. The crews are working around the clock to ensure that the venue will be ready for the start of the 2012-2013 season of the NBA.
Madison Square Garden is home to many New York based sports teams and has hosted several major sports events including the NFL Draft before it was moved to the Radio City Music Hall. Now, it is set to host the New York games of the upcoming NBA season, which will be the 67th for the franchise.
The NBA has recently announced the full schedule of the upcoming season, which will officially begin on the 30th of October 2012. The first game of the season will see 2011-2012 NBA Champions Miami Heat host the Boston Celtics. The first game to be held at the Madison Square Garden will be on November 1, 2012 and will be played by the New York Rangers and the Dallas Stars. Defending champions Miami Heat will also play at the newly renovated venue on the 2nd of November against the New York Knicks.
NBA games at the Madison Square Garden will continue until the end of the season. The last regular season game to be held there will be on April 17 and will see the New York Knicks take on the Atlanta Hawks. The playoffs will then begin on April 20, 2013.
Aside from the usual anticipation that follows NBA games, games at the Madison Square Garden this season are additionally anticipated as the renowned venue debuts its modifications, which are results of its recent renovation. The upper bowl at the venue is now ten feet closer to the action onstage, while the concourses were also increased in width.
Garden president and CEO Hank Ratner also announced other added facilities: “The whole upper level has been gutted and taken down. It’s filled with all sorts of food service offerings, gourmet chefs as well as bathrooms and other amenities.”
All in all, the renovation was conducted in three phases and is expected to be completed in time for the NBA 2012-2013 season.
There will also be some non-NBA events at the Madison Square Garden for the rest of 2012, including concerts featuring The Who, One Direction, and Justin Bieber. All Madison Square Garden tickets, including NBA tickets and concert tickets, are now available at ACheapSeat.com.
