(EMAILWIRE.COM, May 18, 2012 ) West Islip, NY—Having a washing machine breakdown can be one of the most frustrating occurrences. It seems as if the day the washer breaks is the one day where there was lots of wash to be done and a very tight schedule to keep. Fleet Appliance Repair is willing to share a few simple tips that may help get one back on schedule and save a service call.
Bob Dougherty, owner of Fleet Appliance Repair West Islip, recently told us that sometimes a complete failure of the washing machine to start could be easier to fix than a smaller problem. Fleet Appliance Repair is willing to share a few tips on what to look for if the washing machine does not start.
Power: Though it may sound obvious many people forget to check this. The washing machine should be plugged directly into a 3 prong grounded outlet. Never use an extension cord. Check to make sure a fuse has not blown or the breaker has not been tripped. Water Flow: Check to make sure that the hot and cold faucets have not been shut off by accident. Check the inlet hoses for kinks that could restrict the flow of water. Also check the valve screens for debris that too may cause water flow restriction. The Machine: Two common areas that keep a washer from starting are simple but need to be checked. Make sure the timer knob is on and make sure that the lid of the washer is closing properly.
Surely this can’t work, it is too simple…not so. When one is having a hectic day, running in and out, answering the phone, separating the kids, letting the dogs out and on top of all this, trying to get the wash done. Well it is understandable why simple things can be overlooked when there is an appliance breakdown.
When the problem ends up being more complicated then Fleet Appliance Repair West Islip is ready to come out and help. The staff of Fleet Appliance Repair is professionally trained and friendly to speak with. We carry authorized factory parts and trucks are fully stocked so that most repairs can be made in one trip.
